Temp Station Ltd are currently looking for an experienced Transport Controller for our client based in the Bristol BS3 area.
This role will be a straight permanent position with the client and interviews will be held in January 2022.
·Plan and execute the daily road schedule and control it the following day to ensure vehicles are used cost effectively to deliver and collect containers on time, whilst maintaining the screen disciplines within the TOPs system.
·Continually review the road planning schedule in the light of information regarding customer priorities and requirements.
·Maintain regular contact with Contract Managers to keep up to date with customer demands.
·Notify customers in advance if problems with deliveries occur, maintaining and monitoring ETA performance, also GPS to support service.
·Resolve customer and driver problems as a matter of priority.
·Supervise the Drivers and Sub Contractors, setting clear standards and monitoring performance, maintaining standards.
·Administrate tasks relating to bookings, records and analytical data. Maintain regular contact with the Drivers and Sub Contractors to ensure the daily schedule is running smoothly and that deliveries and collections.
·When necessary, use hired road fleet resources to meet customer requirements and assist the Road Transport Manager in ensuring costs for hired resources are kept to a minimum.
·Prepare the drivers start times and ensure overtime worked is kept to a minimum.
·Communicate with the Road Transport Manager to identify commercial opportunities in the South West.
·Maintain contact with customers and internal staff to ensure terminal and regional staff are aware of customer needs and special requirements.
·Maintain good customer relations through regular communications.
·Ensure that all road movements are performed in conjunction with customer requirements, predicting potential risks with regular contact with drivers regarding late runners.
·Maintain accurate communication with customers, Contract Managers and Customer Services regarding progress of jobs, container numbers, demurrage claims, and in particular, late runners in accordance with company procedures. Ensure that drivers are advised of specific customer and job requirements.
·Ensure containers/trailers from out based depots to cover nights/followings day’s business.
·Ensure all legislative requirements are met regarding driver’s hours on duty and dangerous goods movements etc.
·Undertake other duties as directed by the Road Transport Manager commensurate with your post. Analyse the weekly financial performance with the Transport Manager to understand variances to budget and to deliver improved financial performance.
